We have developed a series of inflatable, shape-shifting lamps. In their uninflated state, the lamps hang naturally under gravity, taking on a soft, pre-stretched form that creates a gentle, tranquil atmosphere. Upon inflation, the lamps actively contract into a defined three-dimensional shape, offering a striking visual contrast. This transformation allows users to intuitively perceive the "breathing" and "life" of the lamps. The dynamic shift in form not only reflects the interaction between structure and material but also emphasizes the dynamic relationship between the user and the product, imbuing the lamps with unique aesthetic value and a rich sensory experience.
Looking ahead, the inflation mechanism offers exciting possibilities. By incorporating a low-boiling-point liquid, the lamp could automatically inflate and transform when the light is switched on—energized by the bulb's warmth. When turned off, it would gently contract to its resting state, creating a truly autonomous and magical interaction.
